Overview & Highlights

Located in the heart of Villa La Angostura, La Caballeriza Parrilla stands as a genuine beacon of Argentine culinary tradition. This charming parrilla offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its rustic décor and scenic main road setting at Av. Arrayanes 44. Whether you’re a local or a traveler eager to experience the authentic flavors of Neuquen, La Caballeriza promises a memorable dining experience steeped in the rich culture of Argentina’s famed barbecue heritage.

The restaurant’s star attraction is undoubtedly its expertly prepared grilled meats, a hallmark of the Argentine parrilla tradition. Guests consistently rave about the bife de lomo, a succulent, tender cut that melts in your mouth with each bite. Paired with a thoughtfully selected local wine, the meal becomes an exceptional celebration of flavor and texture, balancing the robust, smoky character of the meat with the refined elegance of the wine’s notes. For those looking to explore beyond beef, the chorizo is a flavorful choice, revealing a perfect blend of spices and juicy satisfaction that resonates with quality and passion for grill mastery.

While the main menu showcases grilled delights, the daily specials add variety and homestyle comfort—such as the hearty guiso de lentejas (lentils casserole), praised for its generous portions and rich, warming flavors that envelop the palate. Pasta options, though described as more modest, offer a familiar and comforting counterpoint to the grilled staples, ensuring there is something for every appetite.

Service here elevates the experience beyond the plate. From attentive, friendly waitstaff like Soledad, who are eager to guide diners through the menu and create a sense of genuine hospitality, to the upbeat and tasteful mood music, every element is carefully considered to craft a welcoming and enjoyable environment. The ambiance feels both cozy and lively, striking a perfect balance for a relaxed dinner or a special occasion. While prices may lean slightly above average, the quality of ingredients, cooking finesse, and attentive service render it great value for the discerning diner.

La Caballeriza Parrilla may have a simple, no-frills appearance at first glance, yet it stands out through its unwavering commitment to authenticity and satisfying culinary execution. This is not just a meal; it’s a heartfelt homage to Argentine flavors and warmth, inviting you to savor every bite and soak in a dining experience where food, atmosphere, and hospitality harmonize beautifully.

With its prime location on Villa La Angostura’s scenic downtown street, La Caballeriza also makes an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the natural beauty of the region, offering a true taste of Argentine tradition in every sense.

We had a very nice dinner here. The bife de lomo was perfect, the wine was perfect, the service was good. Like you hope it would be.

Good solid parrilla. Nicely cooked bife lomo. Good chorizo. Pasta just average. Courteous service. A bit above-average prices. Excellent mood music which is important.

The place is a typical Argentinean restaurant, that at first might look a bit dated, but delivers good food, service, and a great value.

La Caballeriza restaurant is centrally located on Angostura main road, a very scenic and cosy street that runs through the whole downtown. I had lunch there, choosing the daily special which was guiso de lentejas (lentils casserole). It was very good, well served with a very filling portion size. My only concern was it was dangerously hot, like I had to ask for a plate to move the food from one to the other to let it cool down. Other than that, prices are on the high level I’d say, but still a good place to visit and enjoy.

I went alone without a reservation. I was lucky and they had a table. My server, Soledad, was incredible. She explained the menu, was very attentive, and went out of her way to make the experience enjoyable. The best service I've had in Argentina. The food was great. I had the meat sampler and everything was cooked to temperature. I would highly recommend this place.
